There are several reasons why I think this particular book is a must read.

First, I have to say that the writing style of this book is quite different for Frank. It's much more "right brained" and metaphoric than his other books. This was very refreshing for me because most books on this topic tend to be quite technical. I have always believed in keeping it simple. With a topic this vast, simplicity and readability are essential. The book is written in an easy-to-understand style and I really appreciate that.

Secondly, Frank took a "holistic" approach to the eternal purpose. He tried to present the whole panoramic view of God's eternal purpose, not just one aspect of it. Breaking the book down into three parts really helped with this:

Part I A Forgotten Woman: The Bride of Christ
Part II An Eternal Quest: The House of God
Part III A New Species: the Body of Christ and The Family of God

This approach really helped to present a balanced view of the subject. If I have any criticism of the book it is that perhaps Frank tries to cover too much content in one single volume. He could have easily broken down the three parts of the book into three separate volumes that are a series. The coverage is overwhelming and I definitely suggest reading the book several times to soak it all in.

Thirdly, I appreciated Frank's appeal to the spiritual instincts of all believers for God's purpose. God has placed His ultimate passion into our hearts. We are not just spectators in this drama! We do not just sit by in an unaffected way and hope for God to get His purpose. No! This is our passion as well! His desire is our desire. His goal is our goal.

This truly is "the purpose behind everything." The problem is that most Christians have no idea what the eternal purpose of God even is! But if you have a burning desire in your heart to know the heart of your God, then you will definitely want to read this book.
