"Taste and see that the Lord is good!" We live in a world which is moving at an alarming rate. The "information age" is upon us! With the dawning of personal computers and the Internet, an almost unlimited amount of information is now at our fingertips. This means that people will be more informed on what is happening in the world. This “information age” will also revolutionize our eductional system. Our children will have access to up-to-date information on any subject on earth! Since we judge our “knowledge by the amount of information we have accumulated, you can see how the computer will greatly speed up the process. The problem is that we still need to “download” the information into our personal hard drives (our brains). Information is now more available but the process of learning is still the same, that is, studying and memorizing. Of course, we can also learn by experience, but that will hardly be the case while we are staring at a monitor screen! In this extremely fast paced, information oriented society, where does knowing the Lord fit in? It doesn't. In fact, it never will, nor was it ever supposed to. Knowing Him can only happen in another realm. This realm is called the Eternals and the way of learning there is not even remotely similar to the way in which we learn in this physical, visible realm. What if I told you that there is only one way to know the Lord in the depths and that it has nothing to do with teaching, doctrine, theology, bible college, bible study, or memorizing scripture? You would probably say that I’m stark raving mad! Well here goes anyway. The way in which your learn to know the Lord is by eating. That's right, I said eating! You see, for seventeen hundred years we have been eating from the wrong tree. We have been eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We Christians focus all of our attention on what is good and evil, on what is right and wrong for a Christian to do, say, or think. We’re always finding verses to tell us what we should or should not do. |
Knowledge is not power, Life is power. And Life is found in a Tree, the Tree of Life. You see, dear saints, what really matters is what you eat. This is the ironic part; we would rather learn by the world's methods than by God's. Why? Because it is much easier to go to a meeting and “receive” another teaching than to surrender yourself to deep, intimate fellowship with your Lord. Do you remember when it was that Jesus started losing disciples? It was when He told them that they would have to eat His flesh and drink His blood in order to have Life in themselves. "I am the Bread of Life.” No one wanted to hear that. They wanted to see more miracles, more healings, more bread and fish. (bread and fish i.e. teaching which is aimed at the external) To find your Lord internally (in your spirit) means that you will have to pursue Him. Oh no, that means that you will have to die in order for Christ to live His Life within you. Isn’t it much better to just get blessed at a meeting? Jesus said that if we would open the door of our spirits, He would come in and have dinner with us. That, folks, is fellowship. Taste and you will see (perceive). Just imagine, learning by tasting! The eyes of your spirit will be opened (by revelation) when you paratake of your Lord. You will know Him by having direct contact with Him.
